IN THIS LEAGUE ARE RESPONSIBLE TO BE AWARE OF THE RULES AND REGULATIONS SHOWN BELOW. |
1. THIS LEAGUE DOES NOT PROVIDE INSURANCE FOR TEAMS, PLAYERS OR COACHES AND, FURTHERMORE, DOES NOT ASSUME ANY RISK ARISING OUT OF INJURIES TO PLAYERS, COACHES OR SPECTATORS. ALL PLAYERS MUST WEAR N.C.A.A. APPROVED PROTECTIVE GEAR INCLUDING FULL MOUTHPIECES, HELMETS AND FACE SHIELDS. NO PLAYER OR TEAM SHALL BE PERMITTED TO PLAY IN THIS LEAGUE WHO DOES NOT.
PLAYERS MUST WEAR THE LEAGUE ISSUED JERSEY UNLESS EXEMPTED BY
THE LEAGUE DIRECTOR. VIOLATION OF THIS RULE WILL RESULT IN A 6
MINUTE MISCONDUCT PENALTY FOR THE PLAYER.COACHES ARE RESPONSIBLE TO INFORM THE LEAGUE EITHER DIRECTLY
OR THROUGH THE SCOREKEEPER ANYTIME A PLAYER WILL BE WEARING
A JERSEY NUMBER OTHER THAN THE NUMBER SHOWING ON THE OFFICIAL
ROSTER WHICH WAS PRESENTED TO THE LEAGUE AT THE BEGINNING OF
THE SEASON.TEAMS MUST NOTIFY THE SCOREKEEPER WHENEVER THERE IS A
GOALTENDER CHANGE.2 THIS IS A LEAGUE OF GOOD SPORTS WOMEN. Any and all players participating in any League game or subsequent playoff game in this Summer Hockey League will do so under the complete jurisdiction of the League Director, rink personnel and ice officials. Any behavior or actions of any player(s) or teams that are determined by the League Director to be detrimental to League sportsmanship or maintenance will result in immediate expulsion of said player(s), coaches or team from the league.
NOTE: THE GAME STARTS WHEN PARTICIPANTS ARRIVE AT THE PROPERTY OF THE ICE RINK FACILITY, AND THE GAME ENDS WHEN PARTICIPANTS LEAVE SAID PROPERTY.
Team and player eligibility will be governed by team rosters which will be due at the League Office prior to opening game for each team in this league. (See Rule 14.)3. N.C.A.A. Rules, where applicable, will apply at League Directors discretion. No warm-up time for replacement goaltenders will be allowed, except in cases of injury to the goaltender. No time-outs requested by teams for any purpose will be allowed in this League. When any team is ahead by 5 or more goals with less than 5 minutes to play in the third period, the time clock will initiate on running time (penalty time excluded). 4. The League Director reserves the right to assess a team a general fine of $100.00 for unkempt or dirty dressing rooms. 5. After a player has committed three penalties of any type, she will be disqualified automatically on her next penalty for the remainder of the game. The player is not allowed on or near the bench for the remainder of the game.
(NOTE: This game suspension does not carry a $25 fine as explained in Rule 10.)
6. IF ANY PLAYER(S) OR COACH(ES) ARE INVOLVED IN ANY GAME DISQUALIFCATION IN WHICH THEY ARE EXPELLED FROM A GAME BY AN OFFICAL OR BY THE LEAGUE DIRECTOR, THOSE PLAYERS OR COACHES WILL NOT PLAY NOR PARTICIPATE IN ANY WAY IN THEIR TEAMS NEXT LEAGUE OR PLAYOFF GAME WITHOUT WRITTEN APPROVAL FROM THE LEAGUE DIRECTOR.
ANY PLAYER WHO RECEIVES A SECOND GAME DISQUALIFICATION PENALTY DURING THE SEASON WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE TO PLAY IN ANY FURTHER GAMES DURING THE SEASON, INCLUDING PLAY-OFF GAMES. THE $25 FINE MUST BE PAID BEFORE THE TEAM WILL BE ALLOWED TO PLAY THEIR NEXT GAME.7. For the playoffs, tie-breaking procedures for seeding positions will include head-to-head competition, most victories in League competition, best goals against average during leaque play. 8. To participate in the playoffs, a player will have had to play in at least 5regular season games for her team. 9. Seniors who graduated this year are allowed to play in this League (limit of four per team) at the discretion of the team coach and the League Director. The League Director will maintain and interpret this regulation to the fullest extent both as to the limit and as regards behavior. 10. Each game disqualification, (DQ), excluding the 4 penalty rule, will carry a fine of $25. payable to the league by the team(s) involved. This fine must be paid to the timekeeper before the player or the team participates in any additional game in the league. Any team that does not pay the fine prior to the next game will be subject to a forfeit and /or expulsion from the league by the League Director.
If a player is given a Game Misconduct by league officials the $25.00 Fine does not apply and that player, or coach, can participate in the next league or playoff game. Multiple Game Misconducts during the season are not acceptable in this league and will be dealt with on a case by case basis by the League Director.
11. Referee's on-ice calls and decisions will be supported by all coaches, their assistants, and players.
Total respect to referees and all rink personnel before, during, and after all contests is mandatory in this League.
Furthermore, the League Director reserves the right to immediately expel or suspend a player or coach from a part of a game, a full game or complete season because of verbal insults or physical gestures to players, coaches, referees, rink personnel, and fans in attendance for Summer League games.
Poor verbal and physical behaviors of players, coaches and fans on rink premises towards any individual including the Director is NOT tolerated in this League. (See Rule 14 )
12. To compete in the Girls Division of this League, players must be:
A) entering high school this coming Fall or already be in high school, or
B) be a graduating senior (as limited in Rule 9 above), or
C) be 13 years old by the end of this year.13. No player may play for more than one team in the R.I. Summer Hockey League. Girls can not play for both a girls team and a boys team. Girls team rosters for both divisions will be complete and frozen after the 4th League game for all teams. 14. There will be no refund of Summer League fees given to any player or team excluded from this League for violating League Rules.
There will be no refund of Summer League fees given to a player who withdraws of her own volition.
There will be no refund of Summer League fees for teams that disband before the end of the season.
15. As per NCAA rules for Women's Ice Hockey:
Body checking is not permitted. A minor, major or disquali- fication penalty, at the discretion of the referee, shall be assessed to any player who body checks an opponent. This rule is not intended to prevent the normal contact that players may have when they are both skating for the puck, defensive positioning designed to block the forward progress of the opposition or the manoeuvering that occurs in front of the goalie. ( See NCAA rule #6-7-b Note )16. No Jewelry is allowed to be worn during games except religious medals and medical alert medals and they must be worn under the uniform and taped to the body. 17. The ice surface will be cleaned and refreshed at the start of each game. If the League Director, rink manager, referees or coaches of both teams playing in the game decide that a new sheet of ice should be made, the ice will be cleaned and refreshed at that time.
